Located about fifteen miles north of the Colorado River on the eastern edge of the blackland prairies, Pflugerville was founded in 1860 and named in honor of Henry Pfluger who first arrived in the area in 1849, leaving Germany to escape the Prussian War. Lake Pflugerville has become the home for family and sporting events. Families and residents have participated in Kid Fish, The Lake Pflugerville Triathlon and the Pflugerville Pfirecracker Pfestival. Some of the NBC television drama Friday Night Lights is filmed in Pflugerville.
